Jazz Ensemble sets up swing dance
Thursday, Dec. 3 at Manchester College
Jazz standards ranging from Ellington’s Take the “A” Train to Brubaker’s Take Five will have dancers and wanna-be dancers swinging to the Manchester College Jazz Ensemble on Thursday, Dec. 3.
The swing dance, mingled generously with simple dance lessons, begins at 7 p.m. in the upper College Union. All ages are welcome. Tickets are $2; free for students. Reservations not necessary.
“It’s very informal. We’ll teach simple steps and alternate the lessons with the performance and dancing,” says ensemble leader Tim Reed, assistant professor of music.
Dancers (or just music lovers) will get a little bit of everything: lots of traditional jazz, contemporary jazz and the slower ballads.
