Pianist Luis Sanchez returns to
Midwest
for Manchester College recital
“…Can
a two-hour recital be called action-packed? Possibly, if Luis Sanchez is
playing the piano…” That’s what the St. Petersburg Times had to
say about Luis Sanchez, who will present a guest recital at Manchester
College on Tuesday, March 28. The pianist will take the Wine Recital
Hall stage at 7:30 p.m. for the free performance sponsored by the
Department of Music.
Sanchez has selected music by Bach, Mozart, Brahms and Beethoven for his
recital.
Born in Argentina, Sanchez has soloed with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic
and Ball State Symphony orchestras as well as in Florida, Argentina and
Uruguay. He is active as a clinician, collaborative artist and
adjudicator of piano competitions and has recorded
a CD of solo works by Mozart, Ginastera, Chopin, Taranto Jr. and
Schumann. Last June, he
founded the Summer Piano Program in Florence, Italy.
A member of the Manchester College music faculty in the late 90s,
Sanchez currently is on the piano faculty at St. Petersburg College in
Florida, where he lives with his family. For more about Luis Sanchez,
