Peace Week 2007 brings alumni,
training, conversations, storytelling
and music to campus
Peace Week is April 22-28 at Manchester College, headlining the popular
Concert on the Mall, speeches and conversations by peace educator Matt
Guynn of On Earth Peace, classes on Gandhi and peace activism, and
storytelling by a Native American.
Guynn is former training co-coordinator for Christian Peacemaker Teams.
He will speak at the College’s weekly convocation at 10 a.m. on Monday,
April 23 in Cordier Auditorium. The public is invited.
He also will join Kenapocomoco Coalition, Simply Brethren and chapel
while on campus. Guynn will lead activist training during the week and
participate in other conversations. On Earth Peace, rooted in the Church
of the Brethren, promotes peace education and peace action. For more

A Gandhi class begins at 8 p.m. Monday in Flory Auditorium, Science
Center.
The traditional basketball game between the College’s Peace Studies and
Accounting and Business programs tips off at 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 24 in
the PERC.
Miami tribe Vice-Chief John Dunnagan will tell stories at 7 p.m.
Wednesday, April 25, on the steps of Funderburg Library on the mall. If
it rains, the group moves into the Oakwood Hall great room.
Peace Week activities conclude with the annual Concert on the Mall from
noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 28. Bands include Brittany Kusserow,
Clockwork, Mutual Kumquat and The Grooveside, starring MC alumni Kris
Brownlee ’01, Chris Good ’02 and
Seth Hendrix. The concert offers activities for all ages, from tie-dying
to candy making.
Relay for Life, a 12-hour overnight fund-raiser for the American Cancer
Society that celebrates survivors and remembers those gone, begins at 6
p.m. on Friday, April 27, on the mall. Frisbee, a cookout, ice-cream
making and other events will continue throughout the night for the “drop
