Record $11.67 million in academic
scholarships greet record number
of students bound for Manchester
Manchester College is setting records in academic scholarships as more and more students are finding their place at the northern Indiana liberal arts school.
In announcing the unprecedented $11,668,500 in four-year scholarships, Executive Vice President David F. McFadden noted, “If Manchester is the place they want to be, we want to make that possible.” The scholarships range from $64,000 to $50,000, awarded to 202 academically powerful high school students.
“We’re not going to cut back on financial aid in a tough year for families,” McFadden said, adding, “We remain committed to making Manchester College accessible and affordable.”
The record number and size of the scholarships reflects a record number of academically strong applicants. “We’re excited about the quality of this new class of students coming to Manchester College. It made awarding the scholarships very difficult because there are so many strong candidates,” McFadden said. The College also awards aid to students who demonstrate financial need.
Last fall, Manchester enrolled its largest class in more than 25 years. “We’re on track to match last year’s record enrollment,” said Stuart D. Jones, Dean of Enrollment, of the incoming class of 2013.
Manchester offers a Triple Guarantee to enhance accessibility to college: financial aid for every student, a degree in four years and a job or admission to graduate study within six months of graduation. In addition, Fast Forward gives bright, motivated students opportunity to complete their bachelor’s degrees within three years, getting them into their careers quicker without sacrificing the Manchester College experience.
