Student recital Nov. 4 features
mezzo-soprano Allison Hoover,
cellist Sarah Reed
The public is invited to a Manchester College student recital
on Nov. 4 featuring mezzo-soprano Allison Hoover and cellist Sarah Reed.
The free recital begins at 7:30 p.m. in Wine Recital Hall, on the east
side of the North Manchester campus.
Senior Sarah Reed of Mishawaka, Ind., will play selections from the
Bach Cello Suites, a Brahms sonata with pianist Michael Good, and
English folksongs. “My teacher, Dr. Robert Lynn, and I chose these
pieces because they demonstrate the versatility of the instrument,
because they span the history of music written for cello, and because
they are beautiful,” said Reed, who is majoring in music theory and
performance, and Spanish.
Junior Allison Hoover of Flossmoor, Ill., has selected pieces in French,
German and Italian for her recital, as well as Music for Awhile
and Dido’s Lament by Henry Purcell, because “they’re just perfect
for mezzo-soprano.” Michael Good also will accompany her. |
