Candlelight Taizé worship service
is Sunday at Manchester College
Manchester College on Feb. 19 will offer a Taizé service of readings,
piano music and silence in its Petersime Chapel. The candlelight service
reflects daily prayer in the monastic community of Taizé, France, which
is a popular gathering site for thousands of Christians from around the
world.
The Manchester service begins at 7 p.m. Sunday, with scriptures read in
English. “The community is invited to join students, faculty and staff
for the service,” said Sonia Smith, acting campus pastor. Afterward,
worshipers will gather for fellowship in the chapel lounge. For more
information about the service, call Petersime Chapel at 260-982-5057.
Manchester is a Church of the Brethren college with 1,104 students from
30 countries, 25 states and more than 30 religious backgrounds.
