’Tis the season for a merry, heartwarming
Manchester College concert
Three Manchester College choirs and the Symphonic Band join visiting acoustic musician James Hersch to present “Winter Rhapsody” in concert at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 12 in Cordier Auditorium. Admission is $3; reservations are not necessary.
The audience will receive a special treat of an eclectic mix of Christmas carols, heartwarming hymns and symphonic music ranging from Carol of the Bells to the folk talents of Minnesotan James Hersch, with 11 acoustic album credits to his name.
The College’s three choral ensembles – Chamber Singers, Cantabile and A Cappella Choir – will perform at the baton of Dr. Debra Lynn, chair of the Music Department. Dr. Scott Humphries, visiting assistant professor of music, will lead the 30 instrumental musicians.
Hersch, Lynn and Humphries all have arranged or composed music on the Winter Rhapsody program, with Lynn’s How Can I Keep from Singing? and Humphries’ Winter Sun.
