Manchester’s Musical Melodies of May
May at Manchester College means a full lineup of music events for the community, with concerts by the Cantabile women’s chorus, the Jazz Ensemble and Symphonic Band, and a combined performance of the A Cappella Choir with the Manchester Symphony Orchestra.
On Monday, May 10, the Cantabile, directed by Andrew Suhre, performs at 5 p.m. in Wine Recital Hall. The concert is free, and a warm-up before chorus departs for a concert tour to Disneyworld in Florida.
Audiences will get music from Across the Spectrum on Friday, May 14, when the Jazz Ensemble and Symphonic Band pair up for a concert in Cordier Auditorium. The Jazz Ensemble, conducted by Tim Reed, assistant professor of music, will strike up the concert at 7:30 p.m., followed by the Symphonic Band, conducted by Scott Humphries, assistant professor of music. Admission is $3.
The last concert of the school year, Virtuosi, features the Manchester Symphony Orchestra, also conducted by Humphries, and the A Cappella Choir, led by Debra Lynn, chair of the Music Department. The free Sunday, May 16 concert begins at 3 p.m. in Cordier Auditorium.
