Manchester University’s chief admissions and marketing strategist, Scott Ochander, was honored as “Professor of the Day” on March 13 by his undergraduate alma mater, Western Michigan University.
"It was an honor to be asked back to engage with students and to share my experiences, especially because it was a Professor of the Day 20 years ago who led me to my first job," said Ochander, who has a marketing and advertising degree in 1996 (and a music degree in 1995) from Western Michigan University. He also earned an MBA in marketing at Central Michigan University.
Each semester, WMU’s Haworth College of Business in Kalamazoo asks several graduates to return to lecture in classes of their areas of expertise. The program gives WMU students opportunity to learn business concepts from industry leaders. Haworth, among the largest business schools in the United States, has 4,500 students in undergraduate and graduate programs.
Ochander, MU vice president for enrollment and marketing, has 19 years of marketing and strategy development experience in small and large corporations, startups, nonprofits and government institutions. He has developed, launched and managed more than 27 brands and developed marketing programs in more than 50 countries.
Before joining Manchester leadership, Ochander led integrated marketing for Valparaiso University and provided marketing leadership for Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Battelle Memorial Institute, The Dow Chemical Company and Meredith Corporation.
