A Memory, a Monologue, a Rant, and a Prayer:
Help end violence against women
Writings about violence against women will be performed at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26 at Manchester College, a project of the student-led Gender Café.
A Memory, a Monologue, a Rant, and a Prayer will open in Wampler Auditorium, in the Administration Building on the south side of campus. Donations of $5 ($1 for students) will benefit the Northeast Indiana YWCA’s domestic violence programs and crisis line.
The performance is a collection of writings assembled by playwright Eve Ensler, who founded V-Day, a global movement to end violence against women and girls. In the past, Gender Café has presented Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues.
“We are thrilled the men of our community have the opportunity to join the production and takea publicstand against violence,” says senior Alyson Edwards, Gender Café leader. “The monologues of A Memory, a Monologue, a Rant, and a Prayer give new voice to the array of victims and raises awareness of not just the struggles of survivors but their families as well.”
