It’s free, and during fall break
Manchester College future teachers to lead area
youth through “Wonders of Science” on Oct. 29
Manchester College teacher candidates will put their education courses to work on Friday, Oct. 29 as they encourage Manchester Elementary School students to wander in science.
The morning adventure in the College Union gives Manchester students opportunity to work with elementary students on earth-science discoveries, science trails and science-literature connections. “Wandering in the Wonders of Science” is free, and during fall break for Manchester Elementary students.
“Wandering in the Wonders of Science is a collaboration between Manchester College and the North Manchester community,” said Stacy Stetzel, Wonders of Science chair and a member of the MC faculty. “Our seniors are able to put theory into practice by working directly with children. The opportunity to develop, implement and then complete the cycle with reflections based on experiences is a very effective learning experience for our teacher candidates.”
Almost 20 percent of Manchester College students are preparing for careers in education.
To register for the 9 to 11 a.m. event, contact Stacy Stetzel at 260-982-5421 or ssstetzel@manchester.edu.
