 Peace Studies/Conflict Resolution

Secrist Funds

2008

Because of a generous gift from Ford Secrist, additional funds for faculty development have become available for faculty activities that enhance peace studies and conflict resolution at Manchester College.

Proposal guidelines:

·           must be related to teaching, scholarship, or service/advocacy specifically in areas of conflict resolution or peace

·           may fund attendance at conferences, travel, research expenses, development of new courses (preparation time, supplies), stipend, etc.

·           should include description of the ways the funding will be used to address conflict resolution or peace studies; a budget; curriculum vitae

·           may request up to $1,500

·           proposals may be submitted at any time through the year and will be reviewed as they are received; 2-4 proposals per year may be funded.  When funds are depleted, no more proposals will be funded that year.

Faculty Development Committee, in collaboration with the director of Peace Studies, will review the proposals and recommend funding.  A project summary must be submitted to the Office of Academic Affairs and Peace Studies by September 1.  Persons who receive the grant funding are expected to return to teach at the College the following fall.

                                                                                               Maximum Award:  Up to $1,500
