The Manchester University Center for Nationally Competitive Awards assists qualified MU students with the process of competing for prestigious scholarships and fellowships. The Center provides information and resources to increase student awareness of these awards fellowships and awards and offers workshops, events, online resources, and individual advising. We mentor students through the intense application process by offering resources and individual feedback which result in competitive applications for national scholarships.
In the past, Manchester University students have done very well. Awards garnered by students have included Fulbright Grants, Critical Language Scholarships, JET, Rotary and Teach for America awards. We hope to increase the scope of these awards in the coming years.
Our goal is to have an impact on the academic experiences of our students, helping them connect with transformative opportunities and resources during and after their undergraduate years.
Applying for fellowships isn’t easy. It requires thoughtful self-awareness, a lot of hard work, and acceptance of the long odds facing every applicant. Even so, the application process offers certain benefits in improved critical thinking, analytical writing, and oral presentation skills—all of which can be usefully applied in nearly any future pursuit.
Whatever questions you may have about fellowships, we are eager to help you explore the possibilities they represent and encourage you in the application process!
