Alumni of Color reunite to celebrate
AAFRO House spirit, organize scholarship
Alumni of Color at Homecoming 2009 will celebrate 39 years of the AAFRO House spirit by creating a scholarship for future Manchester College students of color.
“Where there is unity, there is strength … AAFRO House encouraged us all,” says Lee Annetta Davis ’80. (AAFRO stands for Afro-Americans Forming Rightful Objectives.)
Reuniting Alumni of Color plan to gather for a photo at the original AAFRO House, launched in 1970 to meet the social needs of ethnic minority students. During the day, they’ll also tour the current Intercultural Center across from the Administration Building, where the spirit and library of the original AAFRO House endures.
AAFRO House continues to symbolize Manchester College’s commitment to diversity, support for international and students of color, and a multicultural perspective on education.
