Muir Peace Garden

Dedicated
in 1998 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Manchester University's
Peace Studies Program (the first in the United States) the Muir Peace
Garden was named for Gladdys Muir, founder of the Peace Studies
Program. Funds were raised by alumni and friends of the University and
the garden was designed by alumnus Dan Krall, a landscape architect
professor from Cornell University.
Since Professor
Gladdys Muir had a strong interest in contemplation and quiet
meditation, the garden was designed as a place where individuals
could step away from the often hectic pace of their lives, spend
some time in quiet reflection in a beautiful natural setting, and
return to their work renewed and rejuvenated.
The Muir Peace
Garden is often incorporated by guests into their events. It is also
ideal for smaller, outdoor weddings.
