Resume 101 Thursday, February 19, 4-5pm, Union Conference Room (2nd Floor) Workshop Leader: TBA Employers spend about 45-60 seconds reviewing your resume - or they have resume software that reviews it for them! So how can you stand out as a top candidate? With a perfect resume that matches your skills and experience to the job you want. Learn the basics about format and content, as well as the tricks of the trade, like keywords and customization at this hands-on workshop.
Shy Guy Stands Tall! Shy Gal Conquers All! Tuesday, March 31, 3-4pm, Union Meeting Rooms (2nd Floor) Workshop Leader: TBA Could there be anything more intimidating than a hall with hundreds of employer booths whom you're supposed to convince to interview you? Yikes! Worry not - everything's easier with a little practice! In this fun workshop, we'll model an actual job fair (but with people you already know) so you can learn the tricks and get comfortable approaching employers at the real deal. This is NOT your typical lecture/workshop! This is a hands-on session! You will leave with a description of your ideal internship, a completed résumé, a list of networking contacts, registration on internship search sites, and prepared ideas for an interview. Not bad for 1.5 hours!

Let the Office of Career Services help you fulfill hall and floor activity requirements with fast, fun, quality programs led by Career Services staff.
The following programs are frequently requested, but do not feel limited to these. Please approach Career Services with your original ideas.
A good resume is not good enough! It must be excellent. This workshop will show you all the do's, don'ts and how to's of writing an excellent resume. Computer Lab Creations: This version of the resume workshop will meet in a computer lab and participants will create resumes as they go! Great for those just starting resumes. Cafe Resume: You bring the resumes, we'll bring the coffee. For this version of the resume workshop, we'll review resumes over coffee in your residence hall. Great for those perfecting or reviewing resumes.
What to major in, what job to pursue, what company is best for you ... wondering how to decide it all? Wondering where your choices might lead? Find out how the story ends (or might end) in this fun adventure of a workshop! Play our career choices game and you decide the ending of your own adventure - it'll be fun, different and you might learn a thing or two about decision making along the way.
Project Runway Whether it's interview attire or business casual, there are definite do's and don'ts in career fashion. Have your residents dress up in their business best and walk the fashion runway! Explore appropriate attire for all business occasions.
How do you make decisions? Why do you do things the way you do? Play some personality games to guess your Myers-Briggs type and learn more about the different personality styles.
Takes place in Career Services. This program will keep your residents moving and learning. Participant will have a friendly contest to see who can find their way around career services' resources the quickest. The winner receives a great prize!
Play a fun game of Jeopardy with college majors and careers! We'll create teams and go head-to-head in competition to see who knows the most about career options for various majors.
Work-life balance, negotiating, opportunities for advancement, salary inequity... Beyond all the basic career topics, there's a lot for women to explore and consider. Ladies, let's talk!
What will help and what will hurt your career prospects. There are a lot of great tools out there to enhance your marketability, like online professional networking, and there are a number of things that might seem unrelated, but can affect your career, like legal trouble. Set yourself up to succeed by learning what can help and what can hurt.
