Pathways Summer Service Programs

Pathways is a calling: A calling to DO something; become employed, move to another part of the country, change careers. It is a calling to BE something; more creative, less judgmental, more loving, less fearful. It is a calling TOWARD something, a calling to CHANGE something, and most of all, a calling toward whatever we've DARED and DOUBLE-DARED ourselves to do for as long as we could remember! It is finding your PASSION and leads you in your search for your vocation.

So, one question remains...

Where will your path lead you?

The Pathways program sends students from Manchester University to volunteer at host sites across the United States. In addition to helping those in need, the students are enriched in many aspects of life. Open to students of all majors, Pathways encourages Manchester University students to explore career vocation through service, and allows them to consider their path in light of their current and future career aspirations.

History of the Pathways Program

Pathways is a transformation of the Theological Exploration of Vocation (TEV) program and continues student-focused programs of that initiative. In fall 2000, Manchester University received a generous, five-year, $2 million grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. “to identify and nurture a new generation of highly talented and religiously committed leaders.”

In 2005, after five successful years of Theological Exploration of Vocation, the Endowment awarded Manchester University a sustainability matching grant, for three additional years, 2006-2008. Manchester will continue this program that actively engage students in considering how their faith intersects with their understanding of vocation. The University has made a commitment to raising the funding necessary for what now is called Pathways: Summer Service.
