Dr. Dave McFadden, executive vice president of Manchester University, was named dean of the College of Pharmacy in May 2012, after serving five months as interim dean. He leads an experiential education program that will take advantage of the many placement opportunities in northeast Indiana and will continue to build Manchester’s partnerships in Fort Wayne. Dr. McFadden, as executive vice president of Manchester, was influential in establishment of the professional Doctor of Pharmacy program in Fort Wayne. With more than 20 years of higher education leadership experience, he has led enrollment, strategic planning and marketing initiatives at Manchester, as well as the name change to University scheduled for July 1. He also has served as interim dean of academic affairs of Manchester’s undergraduate and master’s programs and as assistant professor of political science. The 1982 graduate of Manchester University holds a Ph.D. from Claremont Graduate University.

Dr. Joseph Bonnarens joined the College of Pharmacy in August 2011, and is responsible for the implementation and management of all systems and processes that support admissions and student affairs. He serves on academic committees and teaches coursework related to pharmacy administration. Dr. Bonnarens has more than 15 years of pharmacy administration teaching experience and has served as a staff pharmacist in a variety of pharmacy settings. Most recently, he was assistant dean for student and alumni affairs and associate professor of pharmacy administration at Pacific University’s College of Pharmacy. He earned his Ph.D. in pharmacy administration from the University of Mississippi. Dr. Bonnarens is a member of the Dean's Leadership Team.

Whitney Caudill joined the College of Pharmacy in March 2011, and manages issues related to operations, coordination of administrative and budgetary functions, and the development and maintenance of contracts, facilities and programs. Whitney was previously executive vice president and chief operating officer at Appalachian College of Pharmacy and taught subjects related to pharmacy law, ethics, and administration. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Virginia and her Juris Doctorate from University of Tennessee College of Law. Professor Caudill is a member of the Dean's Leadership Team.

Dr. Michael DeBisschop joined the College of Pharmacy in March 2011 as associate dean for academic affairs, responsible for the development of academic standards and curriculum. As executive associate dean, he oversees all aspects of the academic program and also teaches pharmacy practice. Previously, Dr. DeBisschop was the department chair of pharmacy practice and administration and associate professor of pharmacy practice at St. John Fisher College Wegmans College of Pharmacy in Rochester, N.Y.  He has more than 13 years of teaching experience, including eight years teaching pharmacy practice in ambulatory care at the University of Wyoming College of Pharmacy. Dr. DeBisschop earned his Pharm.D. from the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy and has been named an Academic Leadership Fellow of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy. Dr. DeBisschop is a member of the Dean's Leadership Team.

Dr. David Fuentes joined the College of Pharmacy in November 2012, and is responsible for the programs of education, scholarship and service in the Department of Pharmacy Practice. He supports efforts in managing programs for faculty, education, scholarship, and service, initially focusing on site development and faculty mentoring. He serves on academic committees and teaches coursework within the curriculum. Dr. Fuentes has held faculty appointments at the University of the Pacific Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Pacific University School of Pharmacy, and most recently at Roosevelt University College of Pharmacy. He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of the Pacific Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, and completed a pharmacy practice residency at St. Joseph’s Medical Center. Dr. Fuentes is a member of the Dean's Leadership Team.

Dr. Herb J. Halley joined the College of Pharmacy in fall 2010, and is responsible for the development and management of experiential programs. In addition, he will teach pharmacy practice. Dr. Halley returns to Fort Wayne after 10 years serving as director of pharmacy for area hospitals across Indianapolis, including Wishard and Witham. Earlier in his career, he held pharmacy practice roles at Lutheran Hospital, St. Joseph Medical Center and Parkview Health System in Fort Wayne. Among his many accomplishments, Dr. Halley helped implement innovative pharmacy services, including two ACPE-accredited pharmacy practice residency programs and has experience teaching and serving as a preceptor for Purdue University. Dr. Halley earned a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy and a Pharm.D. from Purdue University. Dr. Halley is a member of the Dean’s Leadership Team.

Dr. Ahmed Abdelmageed joined the College of Pharmacy in November 2011. He is responsible for the administration of the School’s Experiential Education program with special focus on Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPE) and relative areas of curricular development and instruction; program administration; preceptor and site development and recruitment; and assessment and quality assurance. In addition, he teaches within the department of pharmacy practice. Dr. Abdelmageed earned his Doctor of Pharmacy from Ferris State University College of Pharmacy and most recently was founding director of experiential education at Husson University College of Pharmacy.

Dr. Robert D. Beckett joined the College of Pharmacy in August 2011 after completing his second formal residency program specializing in drug information. In addition to his core faculty responsibilities, he will be responsible for designing and managing the College of Pharmacy’s Drug Information Center. Dr. Swati Betharia joined the College of Pharmacy in January 2012. She is responsible for developing and teaching pharmacology courses while serving on various academic committees. Dr. Betharia earned her Ph.D. in pharmacology from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and served as a graduate teaching assistant for several years.

Dr. Tracy Brooks joined the College of Pharmacy in March 2011 and was appointed Interim Department Chair of Pharmacy Practice in June 2012. She oversees programs of education, research and service in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and supports efforts in managing programs for faculty, education, research and service, initially focusing on site development and faculty mentoring. She also will teach in pharmacy practice courses. Dr. Brooks has nearly 20 years of clinical experience in inpatient, ambulatory and home health care environments, and most recently was a clinical pharmacist with Parkview Home Health and Hospice in Fort Wayne. She earned her Pharm.D. from Purdue University.

Dr. Dennis Brown joined the College of Pharmacy in October 2011. He is responsible for developing and teaching medicinal chemistry courses and serves on various academic committees. Dr. Brown earned his Ph.D. in medicinal chemistry from Wayne State University and recently completed his second year of post doctoral research at the University of Minnesota while serving as a visiting assistant professor for the Department of Chemistry at St. Olaf College.

Dr. Yu-Chieh Chen joined the College of Pharmacy in October 2011. He is responsible for developing and teaching courses in social and administrative pharmacy and serves on various academic committees. Dr. Chen earned his Ph.D. in social and administrative pharmacy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he also gained experience in curriculum and course development.

Dr. Özlem Ersin joined the College of Pharmacy in January 2012. She supports efforts to develop the pharmacy administration portion of the curriculum and the implementation of public health programs in the local community. She also teaches courses in pharmacy administration. Dr. Ersin most recently held the position of manager of educational programs for the Center of Animal Health and Food Safety at the University of Minnesota and has broad experience across the areas of informational technology systems and learning. In addition to earning her Ph.D. in Social and Administrative Pharmacy from the University of Minnesota, she earned master’s degrees in Business Administration, Adult Education, and Biological Sciences.

Dr. Fred Farris joined Manchester University in April 2011, and teaches in pharmaceutical science courses and serves on academic committees. He was most recently the department chair of pharmacy practice and administration at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore College of Pharmacy. He has more than 38 years of pharmacy practice and pharmaceutical sciences teaching experience and 25 years of administrative faculty experience. Dr. Farris earned his Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from Purdue University.

Dr. Mary Kiersma joined the College of Pharmacy in August 2011. Her responsibilities include leading the planning, development and implementation of assessment efforts across all academic and operational areas. She works collaboratively with the leadership team and all faculty members to develop assessment methods, gather data and make recommendations to improve and advance the educational, scholarship and service missions of the School. Dr. Kiersma earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree and Ph.D. in Pharmacy Practice from Purdue University and has more than seven years of commercial and clinical pharmacy experience.

Dr. Dustin Linn joined the College of Pharmacy in August 2011. In addition to his core faculty responsibilities, he assumes clinical responsibilities in critical care for Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. He completed two residency programs specializing in critical care at Saint Louis University Hospital prior to holding his most recent position as clinical pharmacist at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. Dr. Linn earned his Doctor of Pharmacy from Butler University.

Dr. Sidhartha Ray joined the College of Pharmacy in May 2011, and teaches pharmaceutical sciences and serves on various academic committees. Dr. Ray was most recently professor of toxicology at the Arnold & Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences of Long Island University. He has more than 28 years of academic experience in pharmacy teaching and research and he earned his Master of Science degree and Ph.D. in Life Sciences (Chemical Biology) from the University of Indore (DAVV) in Indore, India. He received post-doctoral training from Rutgers University, University of California at Santa Cruz and Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University at Richmond, Va. Dr. Lorin Sheppard joined the College of Pharmacy in August 2011. She works collaboratively with faculty and administrators in leading the design, development, implementation and assessment of instructional strategies and methods at all levels within the School. She serves on academic committees and teaches coursework related to pharmacy practice. Dr. Sheppard has taught a variety of coursework pertaining to learning and teaching methodologies, and most recently was director of curriculum and instruction at Michigan Fitness Foundation in Okemos, Mich. She earned her Ph.D. in educational psychology from Michigan State University.

Dr. Thomas Smith joined the College of Pharmacy in August 2012. He recently completed a specialized residency in psychiatry and neurology at the University Medical Center at Princeton and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Jersey.  In addition to his core faculty responsibilities, he will provide clinical services and practice pharmacy at Parkview Behavioral Health.  Dr. Smith earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Rutgers University.

Most recently, Dr. Towne held the position of assistant professor of clinical pharmacy, specializing in infectious disease, at Philadelphia College of Pharmacy, University of the Sciences, in Philadelphia. Martha Harding joined the College of Pharmacy in November 2011. Greg Hetrick, an alumnus and a former associate director of recruitment of Manchester University, joined the College of Pharmacy in April 2011. He will lead integration of the College's admissions, financial aid and student services with its College of Pharmacy. He also will provide academic counseling for student applicants to the program. Hetrick earned a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from Manchester and a Master of Education degree in school counseling from University of West Alabama.

Lisa Schall joined the College of Pharmacy in November 2011. She provides administrative support to the associate dean of finance and administration and to the executive associate dean of academic affairs and other staff and faculty as needed. She also acts as HR liaison between the College of Pharmacy and the North Manchester campus. Ms. Schall served as assistant human resources director for 13 years at Saint Anne Home and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in management from Tri-State University.
