Delegates to the national
conventions to “teach class”
Find out what really happened at the GOP and Democratic national conventions at a special class this Thursday at Manchester College. Republican Mitch Harper and Democrat Karen Goldner – both Fort Wayne City Council members – will talk about their experiences at 2 p.m. Sept. 25 in Flory Auditorium, on the second floor of the Science Center. The public is invited.
Two Manchester College classes are combining for the presentation: “Critical Connections: The Road to the White House“ taught by political science Professor Leonard Williams and “Discourse in Political Campaigns and Social Movements” taught by communication studies Associate Professor Mary Lahman.
Mitch Harper, who represents Fort Wayne’s 4th District on City Council, attended the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis. Harper is an attorney in private practice and is editor of Fort Wayne Observed web blog. He served as an Indiana State Representative for 12 years, chairing the Urban Affairs and Labor committees and co-chairing the Environmental Affairs Committee.
Karen Goldner, who represents Fort Wayne’s 2nd District on City Council, attended the Democratic National Convention in Denver. She currently works with FourthWave LLC software and technology development in Fort Wayne. Goldner has served the city in a number of economic development roles.
