Scope and Content"In the Lab of Luxury," 19 September 1971, Indianapolis Star Magazine.  The article reports that Manchester College's curriculum laboratory claims to contain the most complete collection of high school and grade school teaching materials in Indiana.

Bio History Note

Mrs. Joyce Leckrone was the selection librarian in 1971.  Professor June Enoch was involved in the venture of gathering materials. 

Some quotes from the article follow:

"....more than 20,000 titles of texts in addition to the entire film strip library of Encyclopedia Britannica and an imposing array of shelves packed with educational games and auxiliary teaching materials."

 

"Manchester College has about 1,350 students, more than half of whom are seeking teacher licenses.  Most of them take student teaching assignments within a 50 mile radious of North Manchester but some go as far as central Ohio or sourthern Michigan."

 

But it isin't only the Manstester students who benefit from the lab - many teachers within driving distance of North Manchester take advantage of their loan privilege."
