Bio History Note

The editor of the book, Dr. James R. Hollis, was director of the Humanities Core at Manchester and a teacher in the area of contemporary literature.  The book is illustrated by Kevin Miller, also a Manchester College graduate.

The undated ariticle states:

The poems represent in their diversity a personal journey or transition in life.  Reflecting the 'homeland' of college and church, Dr. Hollis notes that to 'return home it is first necessary to have left home,' and thus the contributors and their contributions are in transition.

.......

'The sponsorship of this volume, then, does not imply the church's endorsement of the values embodied in any particular poem but rather the church's willingness to listen sensitively to the songs of praise and despair that young men are singing.'

Dr. Hollis
