Bio History Note

Because Sadie Stutsman is identified as being a student in the Chemistry class, 1902 - it makes me wonder if this is a class held within the Academy.  Somehow I recall that Sadie was an Academy student  at MC before her widowded mother remarried and moved to Washington, D.C. - where Sadie was able to take advantage of all the cultural benefits D.C. had to offer. Also, Sadie at some point, attended the Art Institute of Chicago.  She returned to Manchester for her BA and Master of Arts degrees obtained in 1916 and 1920 respectively.  She also was a respected professor at Manchester College, serving 1907 - 1953 in the areas of Drawing, Elocution, Art, Physical Culture, Vocal Music, Dramatics, Expression, English.  More research is needed about Ms. Wampler.  Hopefully, the Archivist has provided some leads for work in this area.

Jeanine Wine 26 November 2013.

Vernon Schwalm received his BA in 1913 from Manchester College but attended Manchester earlier to receive teacher's certification.
