Scope and Content

1.  Collection of marked and unmarked photographs and items of interest associated with the Buck family.

2.  The booklet from Calvin Ulrey's memorial service is included.  It has an extensive section about his life, writings from his friends, church associates and members of the Manchester College Board of Trustees. 

3.  A photograh of the young Calvin Ulrey with the Early girls.

4.  A pre-Civil War marriage certificate.

5.  Photographs of family homes.

Bio History Note

Buck family photos and interesting items.  In searching through the objects the following information was found. More information abouat this line of the Buck family is in the "History of Christian and Catherine Buck and their Descendants," B929.2 B855u pgs. 27, 28, 2930:

Lulu Rae Young was the daughter of Nettie Buck and S. S. Young, the S. S. Young  who help found Manchester College along with his brother, President E. S. Young.  S. S. Young served as business manager in the venture.  The Young brothers left the College in the spring of 1899 and S. S. Young died 25 December 1990.  Lulu Rae's photo is included in this collection.

Calvin Ulrey was the husband of Miriam Gertrude Buck.  Miriam was also called Aunt Mida.  See the  Letter to Cousins stuck between the pages of "History of Christian and Catherine Buck and their Descendants," B929.2 B855u. This is signed by Miriam (Buck) Ulrey.  It contains wonderful vignettes of her life story and of family members.

Calvin Ulrey was associated with the Early family.  Also included is information about Calvin Ulrey and his wife, Miriam.

Nancy Emeline Buck (Nannie?) Buck married William Teeter.

 

Archivist Note

Provenance Unknown.  In Archives prior to April 2006.  These objects were found on the shelves in the north section of the Archives Office. The Mrs. Calvin Ulrey photograph album (MC2006/41) was also found in the same general area as these pictures.
