Bio History Note

In the summer of 1925, while plowing a field, Mr. Noah Cover struck a solid object buried in the ground.  It proved to be the femur of a mastodon.  On 19 October 1929 a party of teachers and students from Manchester College spent a day excavating the site.  Kintner writes about the site and the excavation.

The 45th Annual Meeting of the Indiana Academy of Science was held at Earlham College in Richmond Indiana on December 5-7, 1929.  The publication was printed in Fort Wayne in 1930.

Dr. Eberly, author of "The Story of the Natural Sciences at Manchester College," thinks that Claude Rupel would have been a student at that time and might be included in photographs of the mastodon dig..
