Flora Church of the Brethren Collection

1    Record books and directories, 1937-1954 [incomplete].  A typewritten note reads:  "These are Bulletins and Record Books given to the Flora Church of the Brethren by Rev. Ray Zook, former Pastor...He introduced the use of Bulletins at this church in 1937."

Note: This is an interesting collection of appointments and events such as:

  • Dan West came to stay all night, September 2, 1941.
  • Mrs. Dan West.
  • References to the Mullendore families.
  • January 1945, letter from Governor saying Lowell missing in action, December 19, 1944, Mary Ellen Hallam visit by Rev. Zook (Mrs. Lowell Hallam).
  • August 14 1945, "The War is Over!! 6 P.M., Service at Church 8 P.M."
  • Wednesday, October 30, 1946 telegram to report at new Windsor Thursday, A.M. - leaving at 4:15 P.M. (seagoing cowboy or relief project?)
  • January 23, 1947 Landed - Boston USA 10:30 A.M, to Baltimore - 11 P.M., N. Windsow, Home again!! - 6:30 P.M. Sunday, January 26.
  • Funeral of Alf. Long (Cutler) oldest Legionnaire in America 25 June 1947.

Bio History Note

In 2000, three Churches of the Brethren - Bachelor Run, Flora, and Pittsburg - came together to form Living Faith Church of the Brethren, located in Flora, Indiana.
