Scope and Content

[The] Pine Needle Collection:

  • 1st - 6th editions (August 1968 - May 1969)
  • Vol.2 (October 1969)
  • An additional copy of Volume 2, October 1969 was found in Ferne Baldwin's materials in the Archives' stacks and placed with MC2002/163 on 17 November 2010 by Jeanine M. Wine.
  • Professor Ken Brown's collection of The Pine Needle was brought to the Archives by Professor Katharine Gray Brown in 2013.  The following were added to MC2002/163 on 31 October 2013 by Jeanine M. Wine.
    • First Edition, 1968 (probably 1968 because it mentions both King's and Goldwater's visit)
      • Second Edition, 1968.
      • Third Edition, January 1969 (probably 1969 because it ifollows as the 3rd edition).
      • Fourth Edition.
      • Fifth Edition, April 1969 (see date of artist, KLM 69 - and date of letter on pg 3).
      • May Issue, #6 (1969).
      • Vol. 1 No. 7.
    • Vol. 2 October 1969.

This anti-war newsletter was produced by Manchester College students and contained articles, essays, artwork, and poetry.  The first issue appeared in August 1968, and it has since ceased publication (exact date unknown) - perhaps with Volume 2, October 1969. .
