Scope and Content

1. One diary of Jacob Wine's seagoing cowboy experience. Included is a diagram of the bombed out Cathedral of Bremen (St. Peters).


2. Photographs of Bremen and life on board ship.


3. The first draft of the Jett family history compiled by Jacob C. Wine, containing original photographs.

4.  Three DVDs containing interviews with Jacob C. Wine detailing family history, family stories, personal history, the history of Hempfield Church of the Brethren (East Petersburg, PA), and J. C. and Jean's missionary experience in Nigeria, Africa (1949-1956). Videographer, David Sollenberger.

Bio History Note

Jacob C. Wine and E. Jean Weaver Wine were members of the Church of the Brethren and missionaries to Nigeria, West Africa, serving as Houseparents at Hillcrest Boarding School,  February 1949 - February 1956.

Jacob joined the Merchant Marines following World War II and was a Seagoing Cowboy for one round trip to Germany, starting out on May 4, 1946.  His boat delivered horses to Germany.  Jacob's diary is a record of his experience.  Included  are photographs of men on the cattleboat and the demolished city of Bremen.


Regarding the Jett Family History:  Kathren Milinda Jett married Archibald A. Wine, the son of Jacob Wine (also see the Wine Family In America). Kathren (Kate) became a member of the Church of the Brethren upon marriage.
Their children were Jacob Calvin Wine, Sr., John Inman Wine and George Walter Wine.  This record contains original photographs.
