ProvenanceMr. and Mrs. Harlan Dietzel gave these materials to Melinda Lantz on Monday 11 May, 2010 at the Dan West/Heifer International exhibit dedication for inclusion in the Manchester College Archives and Brethren Historical Collection.
Scope and Content

Harlan Dietzel Seagoing Cowboy Collection.

1.  DVD, "Passing on the Gift: Heifer International's Mission to End Wold Hunger."

2.  DVD, "A Tribute to the Seagoing Cowboys, A Documentary Photo Story by Peggy Reiff Miller."

3.  "Food and Clothing, Cattle and Love: Brethren Service in Europe After World War II," written and produced by David Sollenberger.

4.  Letter to Harlan Dietzel from Peggy Reiff Miller dated 22 January 2010 regarding photographs made on the cattle boat trip that included Paul Spring and Harlan Dietzel.  Copies of photographs are included as well as hand-written captions identifying some of the crew members.

Melinda indicated the following in an email about Harlan:

Harlan was a three-time cowboy. He and his wife are lifelong members of the Church of the Brethren.
