Scope and Content

The original, signed contract for Professor Book's first year of teaching at Manchester (1900-1901), with the original envelope.  An additional short memo from R.C. Hollinger (Secretary of the Executive Committee) is included detailing a misunderstanding about whether his contract provides a salary plus board or a salary plus room and board. 

One obituary written by R. H. Miller.  Elder Issac Bruce Book was a member of the Church of the Brethren.  Funeral services were held by Elders Otho Winger (Manchester College President) and R. H. Miller (member of the Manchester faculty).

Bio History Note

According to the records of Ferne Baldwin, Bruce Book was a faculty member at Manchester College from 1900-1914.  During his time here, he taught Literature, English, Manual Arts Training, French, and Modern Languages.  He died on 7 September 1929.

Obituary -

Elder Issac Bruce Book was a member of the Church of the Brethren.  Funeral services were held by Elders Otho Winger (Manchester College President) and R. H. Miller (member of the Manchester faculty).
