Philophronian 1921 Photo.

Philophronian symbol.

There is a photo of a Philophronia group in a 1924 yearbook. It seems as if there were two groups, the Philalethean for women and the Philophronia, for men.

The Motto:  “Strength United Is Stronger.”

From the article:  “The Philophronian Literary Society has experienced another one of those successful years in her career.  After the storm and stress of the first few weeks of school had blown over, she found herself more than a hundred strong.  They were there to carry the banner of Philophronia on and on, and higher and higher."

The archivist could be mistaken but the first mention she found of the “Philophronian” was in the 1921 “Aurora” (yearbook)…nothing was mentioned in the 1920 yearbook.  The symbol superimposed over the writing on the page is in yellow ink and contains an emblem of the “genie’s lamp,” similar to the “lamp” on the key fob.
