Bio History Note

Two postcards, circa 1910, are of the College.   They are the same card showing a drawing of the four primarybuildings with two horse drawn carts on College Avenue.

  • MC2009/135a is addressed to Miss Lillian Haines, Warsaw, Indiana.  It has a 14 May 1910 postmark from North Manchester and also has a 1 cent stamp. A note on the front says, "Expect to be at Winona in June.  Will I see you?  Rose Plummer" Note: In the Alumni directory there is a Rosella Plummer Cowler who graduated from Manchester College in 1905. Could this be the same person who wrote the postcard?
  • MC2009/135b is addressed to Miss Anna Beagle, Warsaw, Indiana with a postmark of March 1910 from North Manchester, along with a 1cent stamp.

One postcard, MC2009/135c, is of Vandalia Park, North Manchester, Indiana.

One postcard, MC2009/135d, is not identified as coming from Manchester College.  It is composed of four college age girls around a desk. One is writing.  One appears to be gesturing as she might be instructing what to write.  It had been encapsulated and might have been one of the cards produced at the College.
