Bio History Note

Mentioned in the "College Notes" section is Catherine Forney, a student in Manchester college and instructor in French in the academy. Her parents, D. L. Forney and Anna Shull, were one of the first students to enroll at Manchester college and served also as missionaries at Jalalpor, India.   Perhaps this is the same Sister Catherine Forney mentioned in a letter found in the Executive Committee Minutes Book MC2009/100a,b. The letter, dated 1925, was from Walter Balsbaugh from Deedsville, Indiana written to Brother Ulry.  The letter listed monetary gifts that individuals had donated to "help defray the expenses caused by the sickness and death of Sister Catherine Forney.  May God bless the Forneys in their sad hours of trial."

This article gives an interesting historical account of the founding of the College.
