He composed a draft of an autobiography entitled, "Still a County Boy.....After having been around the world a couple of times, The memoirs of Loren Finnell." In this manuscript Loren relates his experience at the College, including a clandestine trip to Washington, D.C. for a "Ban the Bomb" demonstration. Included in the autobiography is a copy of a letter Loren received from Ruth Graham of the Manchester Church of the Brethren, 14 November 1961. | | Date of Accession | 26 August 2011 | | Bio History Note | Loren Finnell was given the 2006 Sargent Shriver Award by the National Peace Corps Association.
He received an honorary doctorate from Manchester College, a doctor of humane letters, honoris causa, at commencement, 18 May 2008.
Many members of Dr. Finnell's family attended Manchester College and he lists them on page 6.
The draft is autographed with the words,
