Bio History Note

Oscar Neher graduated from Mt. Morris College, Mt. Morris, IL. He was a professor at Mr. Morris College (1924 - 1932) and then taught Biology at Manchester College (1932 - 1954).  He came to Manchester when Mt. Morris College merged with Manchester College following a devestating fire on the Mt. Morris campus on 12 April 1931.  He was the only teacher from Mount Morris who transferred to Manchester.  Some laboratory benches and racks were moved to Manchester from Mt. Morris, see"A Century of Faith, Learning and Service," pg. 108.   Professor Neher died on 18 October 1977.

O. W. served as Acting President of Mount Morris College following the presidency of Professor W. W. Peters and prior to the presidency of C. Ernest Davies. The College was in financial difficulty and this was a challenge for Neher who had served as Dean of Men and Professor of Biology.
