Scope and ContentA report compiled by John Knarr from the 1940 U.S.Census that was released on 2 April 2012.  He itemizes name, the individual's age, position and salary.  John provides information for Manchester College, the Public School, and for Peabody Seating Factory.

Bio History Note

John Knarr, North Manchester historian, researched the three largest employers in North Manchester; Manchester College, the Public Schools and Peabody Seating Factory.  This information was obtained in 1940- Jobs and Wages as reported in the 1940 U.S. Census.  The 1940 Census report was released to the public on 2 April 2012, 72 years after it was taken.

 

The total College payroll came to $102,268.00.

The total Public School payroll was calculated at $58,147.00.

The total Peabody Seating Factory payroll was $139,286.00.
