Scope and Content

In addition to being a professor at Manchester College, WIlliam Schuhle (Political Science and History) was a political and social cartoonist.  This is a collection of original artwork and clippings of published cartoons.

Bio History Note

Some of the cartoons reflect social concerns of the 1930's, 1940's and continue into the President Richard M. Nixon and Vietnam War era.  They deal with poverty, peace, racial issues, the arms race, and the inequities of power and money.

Archivist Note

On 6 September 2012 Professor Katy Gray Brown transferred these objects to the Archivist.  They had been stored in the Peace Studies area of the Administration Building. 

On 8 October 2014 more political drawings were found by J. Wine in Schuhle's file in the large Faculty/Staff boxes (Sanctum). These drawings were added to MU2012/72 by J. Wine.
