Visual media from Public Relations that came from the Administration Building during the office moves of 2012.

MU2012/123 Folder #1 - Philanthropy Convocation 8 March 2004 includindg Doc and Evelyn Niswander.

MU2012/123 Folder #2 - Philanthropy Award 1998 and Philanthropy Convocation and Awards (March 2003?).  In the picture of Philanthropy 1998 the citation is given to Louise Nolt. Besides Louise, others in the picture are - Marsha and Ken Metzger, Myrna Gemmer and Steve Ford of Ford Meter Box.

MU2012/123 Folder #3 - Black and white graduation photographs from mid to late 1990's.  One student had painted, "I did it Mom!" on the top of her cap.  It is not clear whether all these photographs come from the same graduation year.  Parker Marden gives honorary award.

MU2012/123 Folder #4 - Graduation photographs from probably different years - undated.  One graduate had the image of  Winnie the Pooh lifting beehive weights on her cap with the words "I did it!"  Another graduate wrote, "Dreams come true." Some people pictured are Dick Harshbarger, Roanne Daggett, Tina Dunham and LaShondra Asumang.

MU2012/123 Folder #6 - Circa mid to late 1990's pictures of:

Classes held by the fountain.

Students moving into Helman Hall.

Group of unidentified students.

Tom Jarman, Parker Marden, Ken Metzger, Dortha King and Till King from the Auburn gold outing.

MU2012/123 Folder #7 - Scenes of Manchester College. These pictures were probably taken before the Muir Peace Garden and after the building of Helman Hall.  Photographs were removed from a spiral 3 ring notebook.  Included are shots of the library renovation and dedication.

MU2012/123 Folder #8 - Probably mostly Homecoming shots - football related - unknown year(s).  Two sets of mystery Kings and Queens - one Queen's first name is "Amanda." Pictures show the raising of the football banner, a group walking to the playing field where a large number of tents have been set up, spectators cheering, and parade photographs with the slogans  RIP ROSE - HULMAN and STOMP THE ENGINEERS. The naming of these schools might help identify the year(s).  A baseball scoreboard photo shows Inning 8 - Home 88 and Guests 88.

MU2012/123 Folder #9 - Meeting of students in Warvel Park.  Possible images from the Hawthorn Project - multicultural drummers.  Student - alumnus - at Straus Veal, Inc. - picture used as part of Admissions Campaign - other student/professor classroom interaction photos.  Overnight campout or moving in?  Mindpower - students and children. The historic tree - direct descendant of the Lincoln Overcup Oak.

MU2012/123 Folder #10 - Probably mid to later 1990's.  Bookstore promotionals - golf balls, golf towels, clothing and building replicas.  Exercise equipment in the PERC. Art Class.  Amy Chia-Mei Kung - Amy Kung - Class of 1999.  Multicultural pictures with asian students. International flags.  Health and Physical Education classroom.  Learning Services.  Environmental Studeis, "in the field." New driveway at the PERC. Campus clean-up - SOL Jackie Smith. Mark Sternberg Class of 1998 Music Major. Students sitting on steps of Ad Building.  Manchester parphenalia.

MU2012/123 Folder #10 - continued -  Athletics - Frederickson. B. Baker - Baseball. Women's Basketball, #23, #34, #30, #5. Women's Soccer.  Moving into the PERC - Mark Huntington acting humerously. Stretching. Working with children in PERC. Baseball. Exercising on equipment in PERC - running machines.

MU2012/123 Folder #10 - continued - Music - Band, piano, cello, choir and small orchestra.

Bio History Note

Philanthropy Convocation - The Philanthropy Convocation was started by President Marden to recognize people who gave large sums of money to the College.

Golf Outing - Through 20 years the Auburn Golf outing raised over a million dollars.  This photo was taken circa 1996 - 1997.  Dortha and Till King helped to organized the golf outing in association with Ken Metzger.  The three of them organized the outing for 20 years.

Note:  Public Relations used to be part of Advancement.  Gary Montel - "did it all." Then Mike Schug took over Public Relations, then someone else took Schug's position, and then Jeri Kornegay was hired.

Archivist Note

The amount of materials received into the Archives from various campus offices during the summer of 2012 was overwhelming. Most images had not been identified - and could not presently be identified - since many employees from the 1990's and early 2000's had previously moved on. Some images had been separated from other images taken at the same time - so companion sets might be located elsewhere in the Archives.
