Note: Manchester College professor, T. Q. Evans and his wife, Helen. The Church of the Brethren and War, 1708-1941, by Rufus D. Bowman, 1944. This book appears to have been a gift from the members of Civilian Public Service Camp, Bedford, to Dr. and Mrs. Robert Maris. “From Camp Bedford, 8-9-1944.” - and contains an extensive list of signatures from Camp members. Another inscription in green ink includes the following: Dear Friends, My dentist husband, Robert H. Maris, and I enjoyed our days at Camp Bedford. We had admiration and appreciation for Earl and Winifred Garver. This Book gift we valued. Dr. Mario died Jan. 21, 1975.
