Bio History Note

These items were described as "serving platters" in the list of objects housed in the "Old Museum" [ located in the basement of the "Communications Building" (now demolished)].  These objects might have been used for "teas" and events sponsored  by the Manchester College Woman's Club.

When researching online, a like item was described: "In the (19)40's and (19)50's Hand Wrought Aluminum was all the rage.  It was a typical wedding and anniversary gift, often referred to as 'poor man's silver.'  The Flower was a common motif in this genre, and on this hand manipulated piece, it is rich, deep and detailed.  The saw tooth design is the common finish on the edges."
