 2. TUNNEL SYSTEM

 3. PUMPS – SEVERAL OF THE MANY PUMPS BEING REPAIRED AND REPLACED ON CAMPUS.  ON THE LEFT IS A WATCHMAN STEAM CONDENSATE PUMP.  AT $500 ONE COSTS A FRACTION OF THE ORIGINAL PUMPS AND EXPERIENCE HAS SHOWN THEM TO BE HIGHLY RELIABLE AND ABLE TO HANDLE ANY BUILDING WE HAVE.


 4.  EAST HALL - A. SHAMBAUGH AND SON RENOVATION WITH IN-HOUSE HELP.


 5.  CAMPUS MAP-DETAILED, SCALED MAP OF ALL UNDERGROUND PIPING AND WIRING IS AT NEHER CENTER WITH ALL BUILDING BLUEPRINTS. 


 6. SALVAGE MATERIAL STORED FOR SALE AS SCRAP OR DIRECT REUSE.


 7. CHILLED WATER SYSTEM:  THE BUILDINGS MARKED IN BLUE ARE AIR CONDITIONED BY THE CENTRAL CHILLED WATER SYSTEM.  A 300 TON CENTRIFUGAL AND TWO 40 RECIPROCATING MACHINES OPERATE OFF THE LOOP.  A 120 TON ABSORBER IS OPERATIONAL BUT NOT USED BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF STEAM FOR THE SUMMER AND INEFFICIENCY.


BUILDINGS SERVED BY CENTRAL CHILLER PLANT.


 8. PLANT AIR COMPRESSOR – THIS EQUIPMENT SUPPLIES 150# (POUNDS) DRY AIR TO CAMPUS ALLOWING 16 SMALLER COMPRESSORS TO REMAIN OFF, EXCEPT AS BACKUPS, REDUCING MAINTENANCE.


 9.  THE ENERGY MANAGEMENT COMPUTER CONTROLS ALL THE LARGE FANS ON CAMPUS, DOES DEMAND LIMITING AND GIVE TEMPERATURE READINGS AND FIRE ALARM STATUS.


10.  POWERHOUSE – THE BUILDINGS COLORED IN RED ARE HEATED BY THE CENTRAL BOILER PLANT.  THE TWO BOILERS ARE RATED AT 18,000 AND 30,000 POUNDS OF STEAM AN HOUR.


11.  ROOFING – THE CARPENTRY DEPT. RE-ROOFS AND COATS AS NEEDED.  EAST STREET APARTMENTS REQUIRED REPLACEMENT EVEN OF SHEETING.

Bio History NoteA display board with photographs and captions was located on the second floor of the Power House.  The pictures and captions were adhered to the surface and were unprotected from temperature, humidity and dust throughout the years of display.  The display was removed and brought to the Archives in 2015 by Gary Heckman, MU Systems Documentation Maintenance Technician.
