E. Weaver, a Brethren minister, who started growing popcorn "to supplement his minister's salary and to fulfill his love for selling." Welcome Weaver, Manchester College alumnus (Class of 1937)worked with his father to pick and distribute the corn. Welcome was an active member in the Methodist Church and served as a member of the Board of Trustees of Manchester College.
