PACKET NUMBER EIGHT b - Eel River Church of the Brethren (Joe Leckrone) - This Indenture Witnesseth, That Don Landis and Catheryn Landis, husband and wife, each over the age of 21 years of Kosciusko County, in the State of Indiana, Mortgage and Warrant to Manchester College, a corporation of Wabash County...the following described Real Estate in Kosciusko County....paying to Manchester College on or before 5 years after date, $3,000 with interest at the rate of 5 percent per annum from date, pay-able semi-annually, and all attorney's fees and costs and charges for the collection of notes..."abstract of farm to have examined for sale to Don Landis...- John Winger loan correspondence with L. M. Fish of Manchester College (1942). - John Winger and Anna Winger mortgage and abstract and title Manchester College. - 1947"...my understanding that the Eel River Church of the Brethren is now owner of the farm known as the 'John Winger' farm.  There is considerable delinquent interest as shown by the enclosed statement.  This part-due interest should be paid at once."  - "R. Brooks says this property now owned by Eel River Church.  They held out enough money to pay interest." - "Trustees of Eel River said they would pay off a good part of the mortgage this year (1947) if everything went good."

PACKET EIGHT c - Abstract of Title made for William A. Boyer, Claypool, Indiana (now Eel River Church) - Very interesting map of PLAT of Section 5, Township 30 North, Range 7 East, Kosciusko County, Indiana with property outlines and names (probably of owners). It seems like McKinley, Minnick, Charles Leiter, John Fisher, Lydia Stevens, Daniel Burkett, John and Anna Winger, Jacob Mort and Ora Mort, Addison Hill and Amanda Hill, Mary Miller, Allen Metzger and Susan Metzger, and William Matson, at one time held property within the confines of this plat. H. W. Sanford, Recorder, General Land Office of the Department of the Interior (1907) certifies that a true copy of the plat of official survey is included in the abstract. Transfer of ownership and records of mortgages are recorded up until 1947.

PACKET NUMBER NINE - "Exhibition Floater" purchased from "The Hartford Insurance Group" insuring an art exhibit consisting of sculptures with no item more than $50.00 for the total amount of $4,000.00 (4-21-65 to 5-21-65). - "Ohio Farmers Insurance Company" represented by the "Spencer Insurance Agency," insuring glass table tops in College Library and in Dean's Office. - Insurance coverage on various vehicles (27 January 1965 to 27 January 1966 and 27 January 1966 to 27 January 1967). - Other insurance policies. - Boiler and Machinery Insurance Policy (1963-1966).

PACKET NUMBER TEN - Winesburg property (probably sold to Manchester College by two people in two different property sales?) -  Deed and Contract for sale of Winesburg House - Theresa Johnson Winesburg contracts to sell and convey, and Manchester College has contracted to purchase....part of Lot Number One and Part of Lot Number Two as designated in the division of the lands of Thomas Cook, deceased, among his heirs...." - Warranty Deed (1941) - Another Contract for Sale (1950) between Harry Moore and Manchester College known as the Winesburg property on the northeast corner of the college campus.

Regarding Packet Number 8 -- "...containing 160 acres, was entered from the United States on November 7, 1936, by Elizabeth Ulrey (Tract Book 1, page 70)...Note:- We find no last will and testament or the proceedings in the settlement of the estate of Elizabeth Ulrey, deceased, of record in Kosciusko County Indiana. Christian Shively and Barbara Shively, his wife, John S. Ulrey and Susan Ulrey, his wife, heirs-at-law of Elizabeth Ulrely, deceased, to Samuel Gripe and Samuel Ulrey. - Quit Claim Deed. Dated December 26, 1877, Recorded November 2, 1878. Deed Record 47, page 330. Consideration $1400.00 - The above named grantors release and quit claim to the above named grantees the following described real estate, situate in Kosciusko County, in the State of Indiana, to-wit: ---"

REGARDING PACKET # 7a, b, c, - John Comstock (Judge Comstock) was a pioneer, landowner, legislator, breeder of livestock, and "founder" of Liberty Mills, Indiana, arriving in Liberty Mills in 1836.

Matters of the Estate of Thomas Cook, deceased: "Nicholas Ruse, of said County and State, being duly sworn on oath says, that he sixty-one years old and has resided in said County for about fifty-four years. - That he knew Thomas Cook, deceased, who owned the East half of the North East quarter of Section 32, Township 30 North, Range 7 in Wabash County, Indiana, and who acquired title to said real estate from John Comstock and wife Salena. - That the said Thomas Cook deceased, died about the month of August 1845 and 1 ft surviving him as his only heirs at law and persons entitled to share in his estate, Sussan Cook, his widow and five sons, to wit; George Cook, Sylvester W. Cook, Delorma F. Cook, Thomas Cook and Harvey H. Cook and that said heirs improved, paid the taxes on and help peaceable, continuous and undisputed possession of the foregoing described real estate from the death of said decedent for more than twenty years before parting with any part of it, and that the said title of said decedent nor of his said heirs nor of their grantees to said real estate has never been disputed or disturbed by any person. - That the said Susan Cook died intestate on or about the 30th day of August 1872, leaving as her only heirs at law and persons entitled to share in her estate, her sons, the said George, Sylvester W., Delorma F. Thomas and Harvey H. Cook, and that her estate was settled without administration and he debts all paid - {a list of conveyance of property follows} ....."That Daivd H. Moyer, one of the grantors in a deed dated the 26th day of September 1889, to David N.
