Scope and Content

A variety of negatives and scanned images from the MC Publications Department. Pictures appear to illustrate the 1970's. Topics include: 1978 dedication of Cordier Auditorium with Andrew Young, accompanying reception in Tall Oaks, the 1978 alumni reunion, "Bus Stop" (May Day Play 1978), May Day trike and bike races, instrumental and music related photos, faculty/staff pictures, McFadden family pictures, athletic images including; Soccer, Frisbee, football, track and field, tennis.

Also included are pictures of Andrew Young with Frances Smith Thomas, images of special campus guests and dinners, snow scenes, the altar and interior of Petersime Chapel, students studying, Dr. Wilbur McFadden in his medical practice, Dr. and Mrs. Wilbur McFadden, and individuals such as President Helman, Mrs. Patricia Helman (Pat Helman), John Planar, Robert Jones, Paul Keller, Gary Deavel, Varol McAmis, Dagny Boebel, Gene Fahs, Janina Traxler, female Spartans, Bill Eberly, David Bibbee, Tim McElwee, 1928 Golden Alumni reception at Tall Oaks (1978), band and orchestra shots.

Bio History NoteThe dedication program for Cordier Auditorium includes an invocation prayer by Dr. Robert S. Keller (Dean), greetings and dedication statement by Richard Bigler (Chair, Board of Trustees), presentation of the auditorium by John Lindstaedt (architect with McGuire & Shook Corp.), response by President Helman, dedicatory remarks by Dr. Howard Sollenberger (Director Emeritus of the Foreign Service Institute, The United States Department of State) and dedication address by Ambassador Andrew young (The Representative of the United States of America to the United Nations). The prayer of dedication was given by Robert Knechel, Jr. (campus pastor) and the benediction by Dr. Fred Replogle.  The ensemble was composed of Gary Deavel (piano), Robert Jones (clarinet), Stephanie Jones (oboe), and Thomas Owen (bassoon). The reception pictures taken at Tall Oaks include some of these person, but more research is needed in order to identify more individuals.
