2 Folder - Sleeves 1, 2, 3, 4, 4a, 4b, 5,6,7,8,9,10:


Folder 2, Sleeve 1 - Football photographs, Players Numbers 63, 72, 40, 64, 33, 55, 36, 26, 18, 21, 42, 68, 13, 35, 38.

2 Folder, Sleeve 2 - Theater, early 1970s, perhaps May Day play.

2 Folder, Sleeve 3 - Women's Tennis 1977-1978.

2 Folder, Sleeve 4 - Football photographs - probably Homecoming circa 1976 - fans in stands - long-haired fans - alumni.

2 Folder, Sleeve 4a - Football photographs along with coaches Claude Wolfe, James Gratz, Jack Jarrett, and Bll Phillips (assistant coach). Pictures of #33, #45, #36, #75, and Dan Taylor #27.  The negative contact print was dated 1973 on the verso.

2 Folder, Sleeve 4b - Photographs probably taken by "Rich" whose name was included with the negatives.  Images of Dan Taylor and team members.

2 Folder, Sleeve 5 - This "set" was found in an envelope of its own. It includes Basketball in the old gym, football pictures taken in action on the field, a student sacked out in the dormitory (with 1970's curtains), and students making faces in a car.

2 Folder, Sleeve 6 - Wrestling, probably during the early 1970's?

2 Folder, Sleeve 7 - 1968 Track and Field photographs showing the hurdle, pole vault, high jump, running, and other activities. Rob Gratz is the hurdler with the bandaged strained hamstring. Rob writes about the pictures being located in the 1969 "Aurora."

The track team pictures, being in thespring, after the Aurora was being printed, were always from the academic yearbefore.  

Noted with the images are identifications of twins, Kent Stump and Kurt Stump (twins), Dave Smith, Craig Schneider, Rob Gratz and Mike Wolfe.  Rob Gratz is Coach Jim Gratz's son and Mike Wolfe is the son of Coach Claude Wolfe.

2 Folder, Sleeve 9 - Football, including players #18, #24, #34, #86. Negatives had previously been in an envelope labeled "John," who might have been the photographer.

Bio History Note

Bill Phillips was the director of the Union and also an assistant football coach for a brief period of time.

The contact sheet for some of the football negatives containing the images of Jim Gratz, Bill Phillips, Jack Jarrett, Dan Taylor with Jim Gratz, Claude Wolfe, was discovered. The verso was dated 1973.

Archivist Note

The box that contained these negtives was marked“miscellaneous.” 

The box was the 2nd of 2 negative boxes.

Each page/set was in an envelope or sleeve of its own.

The name “Rich” defining the negative, probably identifiedthe photographer.

The name “John” defining the negative, probably alsoidentified the photographer.

Jeanine removed the negatives from their sleeves and placedthem in an archival negative file.

They were numbered and scanned by Eli Smith during June2018.
