Scope and Content

The Manchester College related photograph collection of Robert Thompson (MC 1934). These photographs give a glimpse at student life between 1930-1934, and an aerial view of the Church of the Brethren Annual Conference at Manchester College held during the summer of 1929.

Students, faculty, staff, events, settings, and groups identified are; Robert Thompson, Otho WInger, Oscar WInger, Leroy Fish, L. D. Ikenberry, Oakwood Hall, Alma Miller(1931 May Day Queen) and Marcella McGinley (Maid of Honor), dormitory life (Oakwood), dormitory life (men's dorm), class group pictures, the Mission Chapel, Oakwood grandfather's clock, canoeing, a kiss, behind-the-scenes publication of Oak Leaves or Aurora,  aerial views of campus, campus pictures, the "Rhetorian" group, the "Christian" group, and an unidentified group shot.

Bio History Note

Robert Thompson attended Manchester College from 1930 - 1934.  This is his collection of photographs.  Some were labeled by Robert's wife.

Janice Shull is the granddaughter of Adam and Alice King Ebey.  Alice was an instructor at Manchester under President E. S. Young.  She and her husband were Church of the Brethren missionaries to India.

One of Adam and Alice Ebey's daughters, Lois Ebey (MC Class of 1930), married Robert Thompson (MC Class of 1934).
