This annual event began in 2018 upon the initiation of Professor Beate Gilliar, Professor Carlos Yanez (Arturo), along with the assistance of archivist, Jeanine Wine, and Library Directors, Jill Lichtsinn (2018) and Darla Haines (2019). Displays included one Mexican Day of the Dead altar by Professor Yanez, and a Manchester University altar depicting souls from Manchester's past (by archivist Jeanine Wine).  A coffin was donated to the University by McKee Mortuary (North Manchester). Students were invited to experience the casket, by quiet contemplation, or by lying in the coffin and taking a "selfie."
