Study Away and Off-Campus Academic Programs

Shared experiences shape our lives, and our Study Away Program is a potent opportunity to experience the richness of humanity. Discover common ground and lifelong connections with your peers and through cultural enrichment around the globe.

January Session (and even over the summer months!) is a special time at Manchester University in which students have the choice to take a three-week course inside or outside of the classroom. And around the world!

Kauffman Scholarship and MU Study Away Awards

These fund make off-campus study possible for students who are unable to pursue coursework of this nature due to financial constraints. These awards are particularly relevant for students who have dreamed of studying away, or of participating in an off- campus program in the U.S., but who didn’t believe it would be possible to do so. See where MU students have gotten to travel thanks to generous benefactors.

Faculty-Student Summer Research

This grant is intended to support joint faculty-student scholarship and must involve the student in collaborative research with faculty for a period of 10 weeks during the summer.

Student Research Symposium

The Manchester University Student Research Symposium is a showcase for undergraduate and graduate research across disciplines. The Symposium was started by Dean Jo Young Switzer in 1999 to give students and faculty an opportunity to collaborate on research. It continues to be one of our most significant campus events, offering high-quality presentations. The awards given are Poster Presentation Award, Keynote Speaker Award, and the Jo Young Switzer Writing Award.

Honors Program

The Honors Program at Manchester University engages students with a high level of interest, initiative, and ability to challenge themselves intellectually, to understand the interdependence of knowledge, and to lead and serve on-campus and in the community in order that they may lead principled, productive, and compassionate lives.

Fulbright Grants

Since 1996, 30 Manchester students have been selected for prestigious Fulbright grants for research or teaching away after graduation. Visit Manchester Fulbrights for a list of MU recipients, or Fulbright Online for more information.
