Audition Information


Audition requirements for band and orchestral instrumentalists
  • Performance of a level 1 ISSMA solo, or a comparable piece. Memory is not required
  • Scales and arpeggios to be determined in consultation with either the Director of the Manchester Symphony Orchestra or the Director of the Concert Band.
  • Sightreading on your primary instrument
  • Sightsinging (only for admittance to music department, not for scholarships)
Audition requirements for singers
  • Performance of two songs in contrasting style. Level 1 ISSMA solos, or comparable pieces are preferred. Memory is required.
  • Sightsinging
Audition requirements for pianists
  • Performance of two pieces in a contrasting style. Level 1 ISSMA solos or comparable pieces are preferred. Memory is required on one piece.
  • Sightreading
  • Sightsinging (only for admittance to music department, not for scholarships)
Please fill out and bring an audition form, along with a letter of recommendation (if not previously sent) from your high school music teacher or your private studio teacher to your audition.
