Overview

Orthopedics is a branch of medicine that focuses on the musculoskeletal system. This system is made up of muscles and bones, as well as joints, ligaments, and tendons. While it requires approximately 14 years of formal education to become an orthopedic surgeon, a vast array of other career opportunities make up the orthopedic industry.

The Orthopedic Studies minor is oriented for those students interested in clinical orthopedics. The interdisciplinary curriculum combines courses from exercise science, communications and business to offer students a diverse view into the field.

In the Orthopedic Studies, you’ll study business, health communication, medical terminology, orthopedic evaluations, functional kinesiology, health promotion and more.
