Emily Lynn

French and Vocal Performance | North Manchester, Indiana

Rich Experiences

“You can do a lot of things at Manchester,” says Emily Lynn, who’s passionate about singing. And French. And running cross country and track.

Her double major in vocal performance and French has taken her to France, to the stage for various operatic performances and back to France again. In between, she runs because she loves to. And she practices French in her head while she runs.

What People May Not Know About MU

Pathways!!! It's a great way to spend the summer, and sometimes you can be paid a stipend. It's a humbling yet fulfilling experience.

Another thing people don't know about MU is that students can participate in athletics AND music AND study away AND just about anything they want, and it teaches great time management skills!

Advice for Students Looking at MU

College is only going to be what you make it. You either take the opportunity or you don’t.

“If someone said, ‘Hey how would you like to spend the summer in France?’ I’d be like, ‘Yeah right.’ But Pathways made it so that I didn’t have to pay anything to get there.”

EXPLORING HER PASSIONS

Emily made her first-ever journey outside of the U.S. on only her second-ever airline flight, thanks to the Pathways Summer Service Program that sends MU students to locations domestic and abroad to be immersed in service-related experiences.

When she goes back this fall, she’ll go for a semester, where she’ll study at a French university and immerse herself completely in the French language, including her voice lessons.

BEST THING TO EAT ON CAMPUS

Anything at Sisters cafe. The cheddar biscuits are a weakness of mine.
